Weinburg Campus

Weinberg Campus Sculpture Garden

Weinberg Campus, located on 70 acres in Getzville, NY, is a nursing home, assistive living apartments, and much more. The campus is designed around the concept of "aging-in-place". This philosophy provides individuals with a range of health and residential services in a non-institutional setting.

The Campus wanted to create a sculpture garden. Funds were given by a generous donor. They chose eleven of Marks’ sculptures to fill the garden area. The garden graces the entrance to the campus. Pedestals were established for some of the smaller sculptures. Plaques listed the information of each sculpture.

The majority of the sculptures are carved in limestone, marble, or granite. There is one steel sculpture, which adds some color to the collection. The collection represents ten years of creating sculpture that Mark has done. The collection is a good representation of Mark’s development in creating sculpture in stone.

Classes at the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in W. Rutland VT introduced Mark to carving marble and granite. Participating on the Indiana Limestone Symposium in Bloomington IN introduced him to carving limestone. These experiences culminated in the display at the Weinberg Campus. The garden has created a space for the clients to relax, walk among the sculptures, and enjoy the art work.

All the sculptures were created by Mark Carroll.
